What is the seemingly contradictory attitude of the animals toward Mr. Whymper?

Mr. Whymper is a human and deals with money. These are two "sacred" points which the pigs earlier deemed as evil. The pigs essentially change their own history by saying trading for money was never stated as wrong and then challenge anyone to contradict them.
