How do the lives of the animal compare under Jones and Napoleon? What contributes to the state of their lives?

The animals' lives change little.... they merely traded Mr. Jones for another tyrrant. Both men abuse the animals, make them work massive hours without rest.... the only difference being that Jones was a drunk, disorganized, and oblivious to the working of the farm, whereas, Napoleon had an ulterior motive for his every action.
