A most interesting alternative would be one in which the animals would desert the pigs and leave them to their own devices. In the end, the animals might very well die, but at least they would not die in the service of those who abuse them. Another alternative would be for the animals to overthrow the pigs in the same way Jones was overthrown so we can see the cycle repeating and repeating itself.
