    How does Christie go about introducing the novel's characters? Why do you think she keeps their personalities simple and easy to distinguish between one another?

    The book begins with an introduction of each character. The introduction tells the reader why the character is going to Indian Island, and it reveals a small bit about each character’s past. Not enough is revealed so that the reader completely understands the circumstances that have led each to Indian Island, but the reader does see that each character has some kind of stain in his or her past.
