Two reasons why Priestley would have Eva Smith change her name to Daisy Renton?

Eva may have changed her name to save face, as she had been fired from her job. She also had at least two relationships with young men outside of marriage, and she subsequently became pregnant. It is also inferred that possible the two women are not acutally the same women, as Gerald Croft alludes to in the narrative.
