American Sniper

The events of the story take place in the United States and Iraq after 9/11. Chris Kyle completes four tours in Iraq from 1999 – 2009.

In 2012, when the novel was published, the U.S. miltary was deplyed in Jordan (Syrian Civil War), Turkey (to prevent Syrian missile strikes), and the African country of Chad to evacuate U.S. citizens and Embassy officials.
