Treaty of Tordesillas

The Treaty of Tordesillas, which was signed on June 7, 1494, was an agreement between Portugal and Spain. The purpose of the treaty was to aid in settling discord between the two countries in regard to the lands that were discovered by Christopher Columbus and other explorers, during the late 15th century.
