Why do you think Paul finds his second home leave even worse than his first?

Paul actually sees his dying mother. He must lie and tell her war is not that bad. Paul quickly realizes there is no solace in to be found in returning home. Paul feels estranged from everything in his house. His father wants Paul to wear his uniform and parade him around the streets. Paul just wants to return to his comrades.
