How does Paul's fathers and mothers attitudes towards his fighting differ?

Paul's mother wants him home, she wants him to simply be her son. She prefers him in civilian clothing, whereas his father wants him to keep his uniform on. His father also barrages him with questions about the front; Paul gives him only a few anecdotes and refuses to talk about violence.
