Joe Keller keeps his feelings, guilt and frustrations bottled up inside of him. All these feelings are so intense that they spill over into the family, infecting each member in different ways. Joe never shares what is in his heart rather he covers his feelings up with excuses and justifications which he feels most appropriate for the moment. By not expressing his guilt or sorrow he ends up like a furnace waiting to overheat. By keeping the truth to himself, he ends up ending his own life.
