Was mr. Murry's decision to teaser a good decision?

Mr. Murray tessers for a very specific reason. What might not have been a good idea for him as an individual was certainly a selfless act in the sense that he attempted it for the good of others. I cannot see this as a bad decision because he followed his conscience.
