Fate and free are themes in this story more than simply Good VS Evil. Really the author explores the age old concept of "what makes us happy"? Certainly It (giant brain) says that complete submission equals happiness. People do not have to think or do much of anything but submit to be happy. However we must ask if the freedom to make mistakes and suffer the consequences lead to happiness? This is where free will comes in. Good and Evil are merely simple representations within the cycle of free will. That is we have choices to make and those choices eventually lead us to a state of happiness or otherwise.
