Symbolism and Allusion?

The old Mexican woman selling flowers for the dead represents Blanche's own demise. She has been dumped by Mitch and feels that all her prospects are gone. She hears the woman calling out "Flores, flores para los muertos" and interprets this as a harbinger to her own death.
