what suprised you

1) I'm surprised that Gene ever took on the challenge of the tree to begin with...... athletics weren't his thing. I would have thought he'd have walked away.

2) In Chapter 5, I was surprised at how happy Gene was that Finny was resentful toward him, but eve more suprising was that Gene still felt resentment toward Finny.

3) Regardless of the fact I know Leper was away and in the army, I was surprised that the author brought him back to the school so changed and embittered...... I initially liked his character, but he didn't really fit in afterward.
