What is the conflict between Gene and Brinker?

Brinker is an antagonist to Gene. He tries to get under Gene's skin about Gene's inner conflicts. Whether it is about Genes roll in Finny's accident, joining the war effort or what Leper is really up to, Brinker tries to put Gene on edge.
