On page 22 the narrtor states that Finny " pressed is advantages because he saw that Mr Prud'hommes was won over in spite of himself. The master was slipping frm his official position momentarily and it was just a possibile if Phineas pressed hard enough that there might be a flow of simple unregulated friendliness between them, and such flow were one of Finnys reasons for living

What does he mean? How is Finny being characterized here?
