A Modest Proposal and Other Satires

why do Swift refuse to consider young boys as a replacement for venison?

is it they are required for breeding stock?

is it their meat would be too expensive.

is it they are needed as labor

I always thought it was because the meat of such children would be tough and sinewy, thus unacceptable for such refined palates.

but the teacher marked that one out, i though it was to.

my mind.

12 year olds were considered too "tough" to replace venison.
