When the boys were captured by the fishermen and brought to the chief, what happens?

In Chapter Nine, the boys were captured and brought back to the village, where they were stripped. While the villagers were taking their clothing, the music cassette fell out of Ishmael's pocket. The chief asked what it was, and when Ishmael described the music, the chief realized the boys weren't going to be a problem. He asked Ishmael, and Ishmael complied. Afterward, he let the boys go.
