Chapter Ten:
Beah receives encouraging news about his family.
Saidu dies and is buried in the village.
Chapter Eleven:
The village of Mattru Jong is attacked, and for the most part, destroyed.
Beah's family died in the attack.
The boys escape from the rebels by running into the forest.
