A Long Way Gone

How had Ishmael's past affect his future? How did the war change him?

I am referring to the last chapter of A Long Way Gone, chapter 21.

The war changed Beah in many ways. I considered that he suffered from PTSD ( Post Tramatic Stress Disorder). He had daily nightmares. He had trouble doing things most young men take for granted like dating, social integration, gaining employment....Beah would need to put his hellish experience in some kind of context moving forward.
