A Long Way Gone

Chapter 2

Beah moves around in time as he tells his story, flashing forward and backward. What is the effect of this technique? (Also what does it mean 'would I prefer that he stuck to strict chronology why or why not?)

This technique allows Beah to fill in the missing years by using flashbacks. The last part of your questioning is asking you is you'd rather Beah had skipped the flashbacks and simply told the story as it unfolded.
