A Long Way Gone

(3) Describe This quote: "We were always either at the front of the lines, watching a war movie or doing drugs." Why? Does this line have anything to teach us about American teenagers and their vulnerabilities?

I'm going to say that the average American teenager cannot relate to Beah's experience. These boys in Sierra Leone were forced to do drugs so they have few inhibitions when they fight grown men in the field. This is not the case for American teenagers.
