Well, I'm not sure if the topic you want has to do with the book title this is under or not. A Free -Write should have the freedom to let your "stream of conscience" flow. I know that sounds a bit corny, but try to write what you feel. If it is on the plague, try to put yourself into the situation (death, setting, sights smells....) then move towards detail (specific people, feelings....) If your topic is not on the this novel, I would choose something that you care about or at least something that you know. I can't tell you what that is. That way you can tap into existing feelings.
