The setting is in al dystopian England, where a juvenile delinquent undergoes state-sponsored psychological rehabilitation for his aberrant behaviour. The government in A Clockwork Orange, or "Government," as it is called, is socialistic in many forms, not a "good" version of socialism, which lends itself to the sociopathic tendencies of the protagonist.
