What can we tell about marleys character based off stave1?

Marley, like Scrooge, was greedy, miserly, solitary, and anti-social. We can infer that his feelings about Christmas were also similar, and that his vision rarely, if ever, left the things that affected him personally.

"... Why did I walk through crowds of fellow-beings with my eyes turned down, and never raise them to that blessed Star which led the Wise Men to a poor abode! Were there no poor homes to which its light would have conducted me!"
