The diction for the ghosts

Why did Dickens mention the name of the ghosts as messanger, ghost, spirit, and phantom? Is there any specific reason for determining the diction? Thanks

I think this gives a more vivid and varied description of Scrooge's visit. Each word has a slightly different and ominous connection with the reader.
