How is Scrooge presented in Stave 1?

In Stave One, Scrooge is presented as a bully..... a greedy, penny-pincher, who will not spend any money unnecessarily..... or necessarily. He hoards the firewood, is loathe to let Bob take off on Christmas, and refuses any request for charity.

But he was a tight-fisted hand at the grind- stone, Scrooge! a squeezing, wrenching, grasping, scraping, clutching, covetous, old sinner! Hard and sharp as flint, from which no steel had ever struck out generous fire; secret, and self-contained, and solitary as an oyster.
