In Stave One, Dickens characterizes Scrooge as a greedy, old man, who give no thought to anything but the money in his pocketbook. He is rude, overbearing, anti-social, and inconsiderate to everyone who passes his way..... strangers, employees, family, and vistors..... everyone, even Marley's ghost.
