who are the proletariat?

The Proles make up 85% of the population. They live in a constant state of uneducation and poverty. The party gives them porn, drugs, alcohol, lottery....to keep them contented with their lot in life. The party knows the Proles are too ignorant to ever cause a challenge to their rule.
