Synthesis Essay: Discovering Individual Identities by Rebelling 10th Grade

In today’s society, living individually to maintain a private space is as necessary as being a member of a team. Numerous individuals cannot maintain collective mindsets because independent impulses will arise in them. In the past, many slaves were looked upon as having no value. Without individual rights, the slaves strived for their freedom and rights by rebelling against their owners with the use of the underground railroad and many other methods. Starting a rebellion for one’s rights is not new, but every rebellion starts with a spark. The spark begins from the mind which is an “... attribute of the individual” (Rand). Therefore, Equality 7-2521 in Ayn Rand's Anthem and Winston in George Orwell's 1984, venture to rebel against the totalitarian government by wanting permanent family relationships with women they desire and utilizing their eagerness to learn about the past by uncovering various articles.

Incidentally, both texts have Winston and Equality desiring for the need for having lasting relationships with women they love.
