Why is it significant that King George lll never visited the American colonies?

From the text, we can infer that having neglected the colonies, the American colonists felt no ties to King George III, no allegiance. The colonists didn't know the king and had no knowledge of the man.... he was simply a gaggle of stories and the man who laid down endless taxes on the people.

He had never been a soldier. He had never been to America, any more than he had set foot in Scotland or Ireland. But with absolute certainty he knew what must be done. He would trust to Providence and his high sense of duty. America must
be made to obey.
