Does the jury owe the defendant anything?

I guess for the outcome.

I think they owe the defendant the truthful verdict free from personal bias or prejudice. The judge instructs them:

"If there is a reasonable doubt in your minds as to the guilt of the accused...then you must declare him not guilty...."

They really owe the defendant sober unbiased debate on the word "reasonable."
