Do you think it is fair that Juror #8 introduces his own piece of “evidence” for consideration? Why or why not?

Juror #8 introduces a knife that he picked up at the corner store that is the same type of knife as the murder weapon. The weapon was supposed to be a "one of a kind knife". Now the jury knows that it is common. I think that juror #8 was correct to introduce his own evidence. It made the other jurors rethink their own biases.
