Jim overhears Long John Silver and Tom having a confrontational discussion. Silver is trying to persuade Tom to join the pirates, Tom isn't interested. Their discussion is interrupted by a scream. The man who screamed had just been killed. He was a man named Alan, who like Tom, was an honest pirate, who was killed because he refused to join the mutiny.
