Moon of the Crusted Snow

Novel moon of the crusted snow

The perseverance of the “Anishinaabe spirit of community” is highlighted by the narrator on
page 48, at the end of Chapter 7.
Does this spirit of community persevere through the power outage? How is it challenged, and
how do people attempt to keep it going?

The people are challenged by their inability to survive... to eat, to care for their families, to live through the trauma. The people keep their culture going by moving on from the loss and pain that exists on the reservation and starting anew. Though they are never able to forget the trauma and oppression, these memories give them the willpower to survive, rebuild, and keep their culture alive.
