Idly wasting time instead of doing productive work.

tottering

Unsteady and with the potential to topple over.

derelict

Shabby and dilapdiated as a result of neglect and abandonment.

plunder

To search through a collection of stuff; to loot; to steal from enemies after defeating them in battle.

contempt

Scornful derision and a general air of superiority toward another.

ragamuffin

A poverty-stricken street urchin, generally referring to a child, but not exclusively.

refugees

People displaced from their homeland in search of a place to stay or life in a foreign land.

muddled

A state of confusion.

mongrel

Any animal of mixed descent; typically of neutral use when describing a dog, but considered offensive when used to describe a human.

repentant

Irrefutably apologetic for committing a shameful act.

defiant

Boldly and brashly displaying disobediance and insubordination toward authority.

haggard

Descriptive of the physical effects of living through an unusually difficult situation.

gist

The primary and central point of a discussion or argument.

disperse

To scatter in various different directions.

pother

A great commotion; hubbub.

truss

Tightly tied up or tethered to another object.

sanitarium

Institution for treating people suffering from chronic illness.

seedy

Shabby in appearance and possibly representing a threat.

requisition

An official demand for goods and supplies.

clamber

A laborious climb demanding awkward movements.
