Rutherford suggested that the electron in an atom revolves around the nucleus continuously in a circular orbit. Thus, the electron should lose kinetic energy with the passage of time and fall into the nucleus due to the attractive forces which results in atom instability. Practically, this does not happen and so Rutherford's solar-system model was rejected.
