# Chapter 1 - Introduction and Review - Problems: Problem 1-9 b

The lewis structure is drawn the way the formula is written. Two CH3 are connected to the carbon which is connected to a H. Another carbon is attached to the previous carbon which is attached to two Hydrogens and one chlorine.

#### Work Step by Step

The condensed formula is $(CH_{3})_{2}$CH$CH_{2}$Cl. The atoms next to an atom are connected to that atom. The subscript 2 indicates that there are 2 $CH_{3}$. These two are attached to next C in the formula. This C is also connected to a H and the next C. The last C is attached to two hydrogens and a chlorine. This completes the octet of all the C, H and Cl. Also draw the 6 electrons on the Cl.
