Metaphor about Stargirl
"She was bendable light: she shone around every corner of my day" (Spinelli 107).
In Chapter 20, the narrator of the novel, Leo, compares Stargirl to the bright part of his day. He seems to compare his day to a sort of hallway or room, so every time he "turns a corner" of his day, Leo has Stargirl's positivity greeting him. Rarely is light described as "bendable," so such a unique metaphor applies well to Stargirl.

At the end of Chapter 20, Leo watches Stargirl as she gets on her bike in her long skirt and starts pedaling. Leo and Stargirl have just been discussing Stargirl's anonymous good samaritan actions. At this point in the text, Leo looks at Stargirl with wonder. In this simile, by describing Stargirl as a photograph and as someone who lived 100 years ago, Leo presents Stargirl as something obsolete, something that no longer exists in the world today.
