Kaaro is among the first people who interacted with the fungus from the dome and gained psychic powers, but he behaves like any other normal person. People do not easily suspect him of being sensitive except for those very close to him. Paradoxically, when people first interact with the fungus and realize they are powerful, they become excited. Clement is among the few who have interacted with the fungus and is very excited. However, Clement wonders why Kaaro is behaving differently from the rest despite having unique powers he acquired from the dome. The author uses Kaaro to illustrate that, despite people sharing a common bond, they have different personalities.

Bola is one of the contractors working with Kaaro in the bank to repel the aliens trying to extract information illegally from customers for their selfish gains. When Bola offers an invitation to Kaaro, asking him to accompany her to her place, rented by her husband, he finds it impossible to resist. According to Kaaro, Bola is an attraction that no man could resist.

The dome structure in Rosewater is mystical and magical because it can give people mysterious powers and heal. When the dome opens, it oozes fungi that interact with people to give them psychic powers. Kaaro is one of the people who interacted with the fungi and gained psychic power, which he uses to get the truth from other creatures. However, the most significant part of the dome structure is that when it opens, it oozes healing powers that cure people, and it can also resurrect the dead. However, the people resurrected are without their souls, and they cannot understand who they are. Kaaro says people are desperate for healing when he realizes that the dome is changing its color, but he is optimistic that it will open to fulfill the people's desires.
