Rosewater Irony

The paradox of Kaaro

The main paradox in this narrative is that Kaaro's life is saved by the person he was assigned to locate and assassinate. The government agency called S45 has recruited Kaaro to locate and assassinate Wormwood, an alien who is after destroying the government. The government discovers that Kaaro has psychic powers and abilities that he can use in extracting useful information from prisoners and also locating the aliens. Kaaro takes his new role as an investigative security agent and immediately starts finding out the true purpose of Wormwood on planet earth. However, before Kaaro accomplishes his mission in 2066, the aliens start killing all people with psychic powers, and Kaaro is one of them. Wormwood does not support the decision to kill all people interacting with the fungus, and he saves Kaaro from being killed.

Sexual relations in xenosphere

While in the xenosphere, Kaaro is having a sexual relationship with Molara. Morala is an alien who seems to exist only for sexual fantasy but has a secret mission that Kaaro does not uncover instantly. Ironically, besides having a romantic relationship with Molara, Kaaro secretly has an affair with Aminat. Kaaro forgets that his primary role is to get information from these aliens and share it with the government to dismantle the aliens' plan of destroying the earth.

The satire of the government

The government institution in this fictionalized state is failing to live up to its expectations. For instance, the government has failed to have its machinery in place to track intruders and possible threats. On the contrary, the security agency relies entirely on Kaaro to provide vital information against the aliens. Sadly, the government only manipulates Kaaro, and it has no reward in store for him.
