Kind of Activity:
Learn about the "Alternate History" genre, and how it can be used for social commentary.
Common Core Standards:
Never Let Me Go is part of a genre of speculative fiction called Alternate History. As your students may have observed, Never Let Me Go is not set on another planet or in the future, but on Earth in the recent past—if certain events had happened differently. You may wish to have students identify what makes the Never Let Me Go history different from real history (as well as notice the things that are the same).
