Aristotle's Politics Lesson Plan

Relationship to Other Books

Aristotle couches his work in relation to other thinkers of the time. Most prominently, he contends with Plato's Republic, but he also addresses works by political works by Hippodamus and other contemporary philosophers. Aristotle's other works will help students understand his Politics, especially The Nicomachean Ethics. Finally, students may consider works by modern political philosophers, such as Communitas by Roberto Esposito, The Inoperable Community by Jean-Luc Nancy, and A Theory of Justice by John Rawls.
