A Clockwork Orange Lesson Plan

Relationship to Other Books

Burgess wrote another dystopian novel, much less well known, called The Wanting Seed. Students might find interest in comparing and contrasting the text. They might also consider the wide range of Burgess's novels, such as Honey for the Bears and Earthly Powers, and particularly his other novels that focus on the power of music, such as Napoleon Symphony and Mozart and the Wolf Gang.

Students might read A Clockwork Orange alongside other twentieth-century dystopian novels, including We by Yevgeny Zamyatin, Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, 1984 by George Orwell, or The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood.
