After reading these selections from Walden, what thoughts come to mind concerning Thoreau? Particular passage? Particular ideas? Thoreau as a person? Thoreau as a writer?

I've always thought Thoreau to be an immensely, interesting character. He's odd and a bit off the cuff, but he proved his own points and answered his own questions by living them.

As a person, I would have loved to visit with him in his home at Walden's Pond. I would also love to have the tenacity to live in a similar way...... face it, we could all use a little economy in our lives.
