How is Malvolio shown to be an 'affection'd ass' and a 'time server'?

Maria describes Malvolio as a man who tries to sound noble but is really pretentious and shallow ( affectioned ass ). He is also a flatterer who does not mean what he says hence the term ,"time-pleaser."
