1) Trelawney's gossip surprised me.... you would have thought he would have been more tight lipped about the possibility of treasure.

2) Ben Gunn was a surprise..... I thought the island was deserted.

3) Silver's soft-spot for Jim..... we see Silver as a hardened man, and yet, he really cares for the boy.
