What does it say about cole and his respect for life?

Cole is pretty clouded by his anger at this point. He does not yet understand that he is a part of the circle of life. He still wishes to avoid responsibility and impose his will on others. He is only aware of himself and his own emotional pain. Life does not mean anything to him until after the spirit bear mauls him and he is in danger of losing it.
