Can it be inferred that Bob Ewell is a veteran of the Great War?

Question

It says in the book he was a veteran of an "obscure" war. This might lead to the drinking problems. Could ot have been WWI or some earlier wars?

The Great War (WWI) would not have been described as obscure. I would not infer that Ewell had served in WWI.
