Why do you think the author, Jack London, continues to emphasize the coldness, and how the man had never felt such cold before?

London emphasizes the cold because no matter what the man believes he knows.... he is unable to imagine the reality. This inability will be the reason for his death. The man has all of his facts and figures categorized in his mind, but these facts mean nothing when he is actually faced with the reality.
